The Application Process The first step is to register online, which involves entering some basic information and uploading a copy of your resume. This typically takes less than five minutes. Our recruiters will review your information and respond within two business days. If you have the skills and experience our clients require, we’ll contact you to discuss the opportunity and to further assess your skills and interest in the position. If not, we’ll give you an honest appraisal of your chances of working with Aquent or perhaps identify other opportunities that more closely match your skills and experience. Skill Assessment and Interview All of our projects require expert proficiency with certain technologies or applications. If you’re interested in specific opportunities, we will ask you to take our online skill assessments and interview with one of our recruiters. Our screening process is quite rigorous. This ensures that there is an excellent match of your skills and experiences to our client’s needs. Representation If we think we can find opportunities for you, you’ll be assigned a recruiter. Our recruiters understand the IT community in their local markets, and are your direct connection to Aquent and our clients. Recruiters work for you, helping you define and fulfill your career objectives. When a recruiter locates an opportunity that matches your skill set, experience, and career goals, we’ll contact you. If you agree that the opportunity is one you want, and you’re available, accept it. We’ll provide you with all the information you need about the project and the client to be successful. And while you’re on the job, we’ll check in with you regularly to make sure things are going well, or to solve problems if they arise. Who pays Aquent’s fees? Our clients. You pay nothing to register with us or find opportunities through us. When you are on a project, we pay you by the hour and charge the client fee on top of that for the services we provide. Do I have to accept assignments? No. We’ll offer you the opportunities we think are right for you and that you’ll enjoy, but if you aren’t available, or don’t want to take a project for any reason, that’s entirely up to you. When I’m on an assignment for Aquent, who is my actual “employer”? Aquent is your employer. We issue your paycheck, cover all employer obligations, and conduct performance reviews. Can I do my own consulting assignments while working for Aquent? Yes. In fact, many successful consultants who register with Aquent to keep opportunities coming in have been on one project for years or have successfully moved from one project to another with Aquent. Of course, if we introduce you to one of our clients, you aren’t allowed to provide services to them directly. You would have to work for that client through Aquent. What if one of the clients wants to hire me full time? Typically, before you accept a project you will know if it is contract only, contract to hire or a direct hire opportunity. Aquent arranges all of the details in advance. Sometimes the original agreement with our client changes and our client approaches you with the idea of becoming a full-time employee. Of course, tell us if you’re open to the idea (we would never push you toward an opportunity you didn’t want) and if you are, we can make the arrangements for you with our client. If you have a question you don’t see listed here, please e-mail us, or contact one of our branches directly. |
